"This agency called me to offer me an auto/renter policy that was several hundred dollars lower than what I was paying at the time. After being assured by the staff that my previous experiences (i.e. car accident that I was found not at fault for) wouldn't negatively impact my policy rate, I decided to accept their policy offer. I paid the first month and was excited to have gotten such a deal. Sadly, I later received a letter in the mail from the Underwriting team stating that my policy was actually going to be nearly $300 more than I was originally quoted. I was never notified by the office, and when I called to ask, they said there was nothing they could do. I emailed the agent, Mike Hillenga, assuming that he would want to uphold what his staff had communicated to me. He apologized for the inconvenience but said he could not make a change. I wish I had never changed from my previous insurance as switching over ended up not saving money but instead causing a huge headache. Each time I asked a question of the office staff, I was told information that later turned out to be incorrect. I finally was able to switch back to my previous insurance provider and have a cheaper rate than I did with this agency office. I would definitely not recommend working with this office."

In particular when it comes to claims they take the approach of measuring twice and cutting once- they offer multiple resources to provide an estimate so that you can make the best decision in comparison to your deductible vs how a vast majority of other agencies “just send you to claims!” These days when rates are going up and policies are being dropped you want a strong local agent that’s going to help guide you in the right direction so that you continue to keep your biggest investment(s) protected the most!
